The first time you open Deal Reaper after subscribing, you're not dropped into a blank screen. You're greeted with a guided app tour that walks you through everything the app can do—so you start using it like a pro from day one. We've just shipped this experience for all new subscribers. Here's what it is and why it matters.
Why a Tour After the Paywall?
Onboarding happens before you subscribe: you learn what Deal Reaper is and why it's worth it. But the moment you become a subscriber, you land in the main app—Search, Favorites, Portfolio, Settings. That's a lot of power in one place. Without a quick orientation, it's easy to miss where to search, how to compare prices across platforms, or how to track your collection.
The App Tour runs once, the first time you reach that main experience. It's a full-screen walkthrough that shows you the core features in order: search, cross-platform comparison, size and condition pricing, price history, and portfolio tracking. No more guessing. You see the value you just paid for, right away.
What You'll See: Currency First, Then Six Feature Slides
The tour has two parts in a single flow.
Set Your Currency (First Launch Only)
On your very first run, the tour starts with currency selection. You see a simple screen: "Set Your Currency" with a scrollable list of supported currencies—USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD—the same list you'll find in Settings. Pick your currency, tap Let's Go, and the app fetches exchange rates if needed. From then on, every price in the app is in your currency. If you ever restart the tour from Settings, this step is skipped so you can jump straight to the feature slides.
Six Feature Slides: From Search to Command Center
After currency (or immediately when replaying from Settings), you get six swipeable slides. Each one highlights a different part of Deal Reaper:
- Find Any Sneaker — Search by name or SKU. Real-time prices across StockX, GOAT, eBay & more.
- Compare Every Market — See a sneaker's price across every major platform at once. Buy low, sell high.
- Price by Size & Condition — See how size and condition affect resale value. Price your exact pair, not just the shoe.
- Track Price History — 30, 90, and 365-day trends. Know exactly when to buy or sell.
- Track Your Collection — Add sneakers to your portfolio. See market value and P&L in real time.
- Your Resale Command Center — The closing slide ties it together: prices, trends, and portfolio tracking in one place. No more guessing, no more tab switching. The CTA here is Start Reaping—one tap and the tour is complete and the modal dismisses.
You can move through the slides by swiping or tapping Next. Progress dots show where you are. The copy is outcome-focused and reseller-oriented: it's about finding shoes, comparing markets, pricing by size and condition, and tracking your collection—not just a list of screens.
Skip Tour and Replay When You Want
The tour is one-time by default. When you either complete the last step (Start Reaping) or tap Skip Tour on any of the first five slides, the app marks the tour as completed. It won't auto-show again on future launches or when you switch tabs. We don't want to nag you—we want to orient you once and get out of your way.
If you want to see the tour again—for example after a long break or to show a friend—you can restart it anytime from Settings → Restart App Tour. When you do, the tour skips the currency step and starts at the first feature slide, so it's quick to replay.
Built for Clarity and Speed
The tour uses a consistent layout: a full-bleed image at the top (screenshots or illustrations per step), a bottom card with progress dots, headline, body text, and the primary button. A dark gradient keeps the card readable. The design respects light and dark mode and uses the same typography and brand orange you see elsewhere in the app. The goal is a clear, professional walkthrough—not a generic tooltip, but a proper product tour that makes new subscribers feel at home.
